We solved the forward osmosis draw solution conundrum. Trevi Systems has developed a proprietary draw solution (RTS 2300) that is biodegradable. Our draw solution creates an osmotic gradient and enables us to pull water across a membrane without high pressure pumps.  In fact, our system prefers very low pressure >1 psi and can utilize waste heat or low grade heat to separate the draw solution from the product water.

We are on the cutting edge of membrane innovation. Membrane development is an active area of research in forward osmosis systems.   Membrane science is a rapidly maturing field, however fouling remains a major issue in non-biological systems.
